Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has taken legal action against the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, over alleged defamation of character.
Igboho filed a lawsuit before an Oyo High Court in Ibadan through his legal team led by J. A. Sanusi.
In the lawsuit, Igboho is seeking N500 million in compensation from Adams for purported defamatory statements made against him. Igboho alleges that Adams accused him of being a serial killer and assassin for top politicians, including President Bola Tinubu, during an audio conversation in 2021.

Among other requests, Igboho is asking the court to award exemplary and aggravated damages in the sum of N500 million in his favor for defamation.
The court process filed by Sanusi quoted Adams making several damaging remarks about Igboho, including accusations of criminal activities and political manipulation.
Igboho has denied these allegations and is urging the court to declare the content of the audio clip as slanderous against his character.
His lawyers argue that it is unlawful and inappropriate for Adams to defame and disparage Igboho’s character and reputation in such a manner.
Furthermore, Igboho’s legal team is requesting an order directing Adams to publicly retract the defamatory content contained in the publication to Nuru Banjo, which was further disseminated on all new media platforms, including YouTube.
The lawsuit underscores the escalating tensions within the Yoruba activist community and highlights the legal battles that often accompany political and social activism in Nigeria.
