Support Efforts to Revitalise Olokola Projects, OGSG Tasks Surrounding Communities

An appeal has gone to residents of Irokun, Ode-Omi and neighbouring communities in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State to support the State government as it is making efforts to revitalize the Olokola Free Trade Zone Enterprises project.

 

Director-General of the Bureau of Lands and Survey in the State, Mr. Adewale Oshinowo made this appeal during an inspection tour to the communities. .

 

Oshinowo said following the discovery that some land speculators within and outside the State had tampered with the pillars used to demarcate the allotted land for the project; government was making efforts to re-establish the demarcation to rejuvenate the project and prevent encroachment by neighbouring States.

 

He said very soon, Government Surveyors would commence the re-demarcation process and urged them to cooperate with them while the exercise lasted, maintaining that at the end, both government and residents of the communities stand to benefit from the project.

 

“We need your cooperation as we want to do survey plans on the lands, we are not here to cause any harm, this project is for the betterment of the community, let me assure you that there is no way such a massive project would be located in a place without amenities such as electricity, roads, health facilities among others provided for the use of members of host communities” He said.

 

Speaking in the same vein, the acting Surveyor-General of the State, Mr. Sunday Ajayi affirmed that the State government would not relent in its efforts to ensure that its developmental efforts reach all the nook and crannies regardless of the distance to the capital city.

 

Responding, on behalf of the surrounding communities, Chief Ebel Akinjiri acknowledged that government had been responsive to their yearnings by providing them some amenities.

 

While assuring that residents were prepared to give support when the surveyors commenced the re-demarcation exercise, Chief Akinjiri urged that government should not relent in making living more abundant for them.
