An alleged armed robber who reportedly stabbed an eighteen-year-old POS operator to death was set ablaze by an angry mob in Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The tragic incident occurred near the yam market on Monday.
The victim, a young girl preparing for her National Examination Council (NECO) exams, was attacked in her shop by the suspect under the pretense of making a withdrawal.

Sources told Journalists that the suspect entered the girl’s shop, attempted to steal money, and upon failing, fatally stabbed her.
“A young man went into the POS operator’s shop and stabbed her to death,” confirmed Ismaila Dauda, Chairman of the local government council.
“The suspect was pursued, caught, and lynched to death by hoodlums.”
Another source, who spoke anonymously, said the suspect would have escaped but was caught and set on fire by local youths.
“It’s a sad and unfortunate incident. The young girl, aged 18, came to prepare for her NECO exams and unfortunately met her untimely death,” Dauda lamented.
At the time of filing this report, security agencies were investigating the incident.
The Taraba State Police Command confirmed the event through its Acting Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gambo Kwache.
“The suspect who stabbed the POS operator on her neck was lynched by the youths who went after him,” Kwache stated.
The incident has sparked outrage and sorrow within the community, highlighting concerns over rising insecurity and the resort to mob justice.
