Suspected Lakurawa bandits have attacked a cattle range on the outskirts of Tangaza along the Nigeria–Niger border in Sokoto State, killing one person and injuring another.
The incident was disclosed in a post on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region.
According to Makama, the attack occurred on February 20 at about 9:15 p.m., when a large group of armed bandits reportedly stormed the area and opened fire on residents.

Security sources said troops from the Army Forward Operating Base and other security personnel were swiftly mobilised to the scene.
The responding troops confirmed that a 30-year-old resident, Yahaya Al-Hassan, was shot dead, while Bello Muhammad sustained a gunshot injury to his left leg.
The attackers were also said to have rustled an unspecified number of livestock before fleeing into a nearby forest.
Both the deceased and the injured victim were evacuated to the General Hospital Tangaza for autopsy and medical treatment.
Security sources added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the attackers and recover the stolen animals.
They also noted that confidence-building patrols by joint security teams have been intensified in the area to reassure residents and prevent further attacks.
