The Taraba State Government has debunked reports suggesting that the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hamman-Adama Adamu, has been nominated as the new Deputy Governor of the state.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, the State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Zainab Jalingo, described the rumours as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.
She emphasized that there is no vacancy in the office of the Deputy Governor, reaffirming that Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali remains the duly elected and serving Deputy Governor of Taraba State.

“The attention of the Taraba State Government has been drawn to rumours circulating on social and traditional media, alleging that His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, has nominated Alhaji Hamman-Adama as the new Deputy Governor,” the statement read.
“This claim is entirely false, misleading, wicked and should be disregarded by the public in its entirety,” she added.
The commissioner reiterated that the process of replacing a Deputy Governor is constitutionally defined and must follow due legislative procedures — none of which has been initiated or considered by the state government.
“There is no constitutional or legislative process underway to replace the Deputy Governor. The public is therefore urged to remain calm and disregard any such speculation,” Jalingo said.
She assured residents that the government remains focused on delivering good governance and will not be distracted by unfounded claims.
“The Taraba State Government urges citizens to rely solely on verified information from official government communication channels and not be swayed by baseless reports,” she concluded.
