A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has stated that the ongoing coalition moves by opposition leaders to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections will amount to nothing.
Speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye advised former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and others not to waste their resources on what he described as a “failed political project.”
He urged them instead to support President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is already repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth.

“Over the last seventy years, Nigeria has witnessed several attempts at coalition-building. Most were motivated by the desire to challenge dominant parties, but history shows these coalitions rarely succeed,” Oyintiloye said.
“Forming a viable alliance in Nigeria goes beyond shared opposition. It requires unity, strategic compromise, long-term cohesion, and altruistic motives. Unfortunately, this current effort is being driven by self-interest and a desperation to revive failing political careers.”
Describing the coalition as a gathering of aggrieved leaders seeking personal gain, Oyintiloye questioned their motives, asking if they would have done better than Tinubu if they were in power.
He said, “If the president had offered juicy appointments to these politicians, they would be singing his praises instead of casting aspersions. Tinubu is a master strategist, and their efforts will fail.”
The former lawmaker urged opposition leaders to reflect on the outcome of the 2023 elections, where, despite stiff opposition, Tinubu emerged victorious.
“Now that he is in power and actively reviving the economy, it is unrealistic to think a fragmented opposition coalition can remove him,” he added.
Oyintiloye called on opposition leaders, especially within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to support the president’s efforts, noting that Tinubu’s achievements in the last two years are evident across all sectors.
He also encouraged the president to remain focused on implementing his economic and infrastructural reforms, which he said are restoring public confidence in his administration.
