The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has announced the formation of a reconciliation committee aimed at resolving internal grievances within the party.
In a statement released to journalists in Jalingo, the state capital, on Tuesday, the party outlined the committee’s mission to mediate conflicts and strengthen party unity ahead of future political activities.
The statement, signed by PDP spokesperson Andeta’rang Iremea, stressed that the reconciliation effort is crucial for addressing issues that have caused divisions among members.

“The committee is expected to mediate and find solutions to conflicts within the party, ensuring that all concerns are addressed in preparation for future political activities,” the statement read.
The reconciliation committee will be chaired by Senator Zik Ambuno Sunday and comprises notable party members including Alhaji Abdulrazaq Musa, Magaji Joseph Tahwa, Abbas Kaura, Simon Dogari, and Tina Musa. Other members of the committee include Aminu Jika, Oliver Suleiman, Kabiru Jalo, John Mamman, Jonah J. Kataps, Azumi Adamu, Alhaji Mohammed Abana, Julius Taro Bitako, Mohammed Idi, and Lawal Abdulkarim, who will serve as the committee’s secretary.
The formation of the committee comes in response to ongoing tensions within the party, which have persisted since the last state congress.
A major source of conflict has been the alleged imposition of former Commissioner of Information and Reorientation, Lois Emmanuel, as the party’s women leader—a move that has continued to create friction among party members.
A party chieftain, who spoke to Journalists on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the significance of the committee’s role in restoring peace.
“This has become necessary because we urgently want to put our house in order before the next general election, which will, by God’s grace, take place in 2027,” he said.
The PDP in Taraba State hopes that the reconciliation effort will help resolve the disputes and foster unity as the party looks ahead to future elections.
