TAUS is releasing today a new directory of translation technologies as a free and open service to the global translation industry. The directory contains listings of translation support tools, machine translation engines and language technology tools.
“The global translation technology landscape is a vibrant sector,” says Jaap van der Meer, director of TAUS. “We see new entrants coming into the market every week. Sometimes they are large global players with an ‘all languages’ solution, but often the new tools come from small commercial or academic developers who cracked one specific language or content problem with a smart software solution. It’s hard for translation professionals and developers to keep track and find the right tools for the job. We are making TAUS Directories available as a public and free resource.”
The TAUS Directories contains already 200 products at the launch. Commercial and academic developers can easily create and edit their own listings. TAUS members can upload demonstration videos and other multimedia resources to enhance their listing.
TAUS is a member organization and resource center for the global translation sector. In 2013 TAUS published theTranslation Technology Landscape report, a 70 pages comprehensive report covering the global translation technology sector. This report is available for download from the TAUS web site.
TAUS is a resource center for the global language and translation industries. Our mission is to increase the size and significance of the translation industry to help the world communicate better.
We envision translation as a standard feature, a utility, similar to the internet, electricity and water. Translation available in all languages to all people in the world will push the evolution of human civilization to a much higher level of understanding, education and discovery.
We support buyers and providers of language services and technologies with a comprehensive suite of online services, software and knowledge that help them to grow and innovate their business. We extend the reach and growth of the translation industry through our vision of the Human Language Project and our execution with sharing translation memory data and quality evaluation metrics.
