Taylor Swift ‘s name might have got dragged through the dirt last year – but it looks like she’s about to come out swinging.
Shortly after Taylor ‘broke the internet’ by deleting all of her posts from Twitter and Instagram accounts and blacking out her personal website – she’s back with glitchy 10-second footage of a slithering snake.
Die-hard Swift fans are anticipating that the social media campaign can only mean one thing – a new album.
Taylor’s carefully painted image as a squeaky-clean pop star was destroyed last year when Kim Kardashian released a certain home video on Snapchat – and the snake emoji became code for Taylor online.
Fans worldwide embraced the new nickname and flooded Taylor’s social media with the emoji.
So much so, that Swift’s Instagram account became the first to filter unwanted comments and the snake emoji soon vanished.
The feud started when Kim claimed Taylor “totally approved” controversial lyrics to Kanye’s song Famous and accused her of “playing the victim”.
Meanwhile, Taylor remained adamant she never heard the full track before its release and did not realise she would be referred to as “that bitch”.
Famous referenced Kanye’s interruption of Taylor’s speech when she won a gong at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009.
He rapped: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, I made that bitch famous.”
Kanye, 39, is believed to have been in a studio in Los Angeles when he called Taylor in January last year.
While no reference is made to the phrase “that b***h”, Kanye asks Taylor if she is happy with his lyrics and she tells him: “yeah I mean go with whatever line you think is better.”
The situation was made worse when Taylor ended up at war with her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris after she moved on to Tom Hiddleston within days and took public credit for co-writing his hit This Is What You Came for – despite previously keeping her involvement a secret.
“I know you’re off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I’m not that guy, sorry. I won’t allow it,” fumed Calvin.
The tweets – which he quickly deleted – resulted in the hashtag #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty trending on Twitter.
But now, after winning her groping trial, support for Taylor is running high so it looks like the perfect time for her to reclaim her pop crown.
On Monday afternoon the pop Princess returned with a bang, or more of a slither, as she broke her social media silence with footage of a SNAKE.
The creepy ten-second video shows a spiked reptile uncurling slowly in the darkness, momentarily being lit up by multi-coloured strobe lights.
It’s the first time Taylor has shared anything with her following in months.
Excited fans immediately started speculating new music was on the way from the chart-topper, who is rumoured to be releasing her sixth album this year.
The mysterious video set tongues wagging straight away and was ‘liked’ over a million times on Instagram in just one hour.
The timing of Taylor’s post, coming came hours after Katy Perry’s released video teaser for Swish Swish, did not go unnoticed by fans – who believe the rivalry between the two pop stars is still going strong.
