Former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Tukur Buratai, has said that financiers of terrorism are still present within Nigerian society.
Buratai made the assertion on Friday during a live appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, monitored by InfoStride News.
According to him, merely identifying those behind the funding of terrorism is not sufficient, stressing that decisive action must be taken against them.

“This is another issue. We over-rely on the military. Everybody has his own responsibility,” he said.
He added that tackling terrorism requires collective responsibility beyond the military, including efforts from other institutions and stakeholders.
“You cannot say I should be responsible for naming the financiers of terror. It’s not just about mentioning names. Action should be taken,” Buratai stated.
The former army chief further alleged that individuals linked to terrorist financing are known within society, lamenting that many of those arrested in connection with insurgent activities have not been prosecuted.
“These individuals are still within society today, and they are known. Even those who have been arrested in connection with Boko Haram are still not being prosecuted,” he added.
