Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo has begged the church to collaborate with the government in the development of a strong, peaceful and corruption-free society.
Obaseki made this known when he received the President of Evangelical Church Winning All, the Rev. Jeremiah Gado, at Government House in Benin on Tuesday.
He said when crises took place in the society, the society resorted to the church hence the need for the church to take crucial steps to build the society with the government.
‘’The church has a role to ensure stability in the society and partnership with the church is something we must strengthen,’’ he said.
Earlier, Gado said he was on a pastoral visit to Edo and Delta states and that the church would like to extend some of its social services to people of Edo subject to availability of land.
He appealed to the governor to use his great office to speak for the oppressed, widows, orphans, voiceless, poor and improve on the lots of unemployed youths in the state.
Gado also praised the developmental movements of the state government, especially in the area of roads, and prayed for the success of the administration and the Edo people.
