As the youths of Cross River State join the rest of the world in marking this year’s international youth day, I urge my fellow youths to look beyond our today and focus for the next generation.
Coincidentally the theme ” The Road to 2030: Eradicating Poverty and Achieving Sustainable Consumption and Production”. The theme reminds me of the fact that as young people we must work for the growth of Nigeria and our state in particular.
We must think of ways on how we can create opportunities through our environment. As young people we must understand that being a youth is not a time for merriment. It is a time to work for the future. It is a time to explore, think and be creative.
As the youths of Cross River State join the rest of the world in marking this year’s youth day, we must shun sycophancy, greed, and hate in our hearts and work towards the growth and development of our state and nation.
The youths of Cross River State must be prepared to contribute in not just the country but in Africa. Young people must be encouraged to take over. The future of this country lies in our hands and so the youths of Cross River State must key into ways that can stand them out.
The youths of Cross River State must be given sound Education because that is the bedrock of any society. The youths must trained on skills that would put food on their table. They must be encouraged to go into businesses. Our young men and women must be given the needed encouragement if we must win the war against poverty and stagnation as a people.
The youths of Cross River State must diversify. They must look inward, they must be great thinkers. We have a lot of untapped resources and so, I expect the youths of my generation to build on existing untapped resources in order to create wealth. And in doing so, the government, well meaning Nigerians and the general public have a pivotal role in encouraging our people.
Once we lose focus as young people, our tomorrow is not guaranteed. The time is now to prepared for the challenges ahead. The time is now to think for the future. It is very important that we build a solid foundation for our people. I see a prosperous Cross River State through our young people. We must assist them. We must train our young men and women to be the best Enterpreneurs in Africa, in Nigeria and the world at large.
My people, there is no better time than now. The time has come for us as people to key into Agriculture, solid minerals, craft making, baking, ICT and all other avenues that can generate and create wealth.
The youths of my generation must shun being used as a tool to perpetrate havoc. We must stand firm and know that we are the future. And know that we have the capacity to lead the Nigeria of today.
Never again, must the youths of my generation allow themselves to be cajoled into causing pain and chaos in the society. My fellow young men and women. The future of Nigeria lies in our shoulders. We must protect our future jealously, guard our future jealously and know that we must ready to lead as leaders of this country.
Happy International Youth Day!
