On Tuesday, the House of Assembly for the state of Kaduna suspended the chairmanships of the local governments of Kaura, Kagarko, and Chikun due to allegations of misappropriation of funds.
Kaduna State Public Procurement Law, 2016, Section 35, Subsection 23. The three local government chairmen were suspended after being accused of awarding contracts without following due process.

However, the committee discovered after reviewing the files that the chairmen of Kaura, Kagarko, and Chikun had violated Section 48 of the Local Government Administration Law of 2018 and Section 35 Subsection 25 of the Kaduna State Public Procurement Law of 2016.
She explained that the committee had suggested that the three chairmen step down from their positions for the next six months to allow for further inquiry, and that the relevant sections of the document outlined the essential compliance with budget allocations and the state’s public procurement standards.
They were also instructed to delegate their duties to the vice chairmen and not be present at the local government secretariats during this time.
