A tragic accident involving a petrol tanker has claimed the lives of a woman and her child in Delta State.
The incident, which also left several others injured and destroyed properties worth millions of naira, occurred Thursday evening along Ubeji/Egbokodo Road by Ayiri Junction.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was returning home after picking up her child from school when the speeding tanker lost its brakes and veered off the road. The vehicle struck the victims as they stood at a corner, waiting to cross.
When contacted, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with DAILY POST.
“Only two deaths; others are receiving treatment,” Edafe stated.
The accident has sparked concerns over reckless driving and the safety of road users in the area.
