Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has said whoever would succeed him in office come 2015 must be a leader with the fear of God.
He also listed other traits such a successor must possess to include strong character, Wisdom of Solomon and interest of people of the state at heart.
Above all, the governor said such a successor must be able to avoid the pitfalls his administration made the last seven years.
Jang, in a letter to the people of the state said: “Regardless of where my successor will emerge from, our search for a leader in 2015 and beyond must be driven by key benchmarks ‑ fear of God, wisdom, initiative, strong will/character, courage to defend the heritage, interest and future of Plateau State, credibility and integrity as well as abiding and unwavering commitment to consolidation on the gains made so far”.
The governor pointed out that his administration had been able to chart a road map for governance in the state after a long period of underdevelopment, adding that, what his government has done is to fast track the growth and development of the state “using infrastructure, human capital development and resource mobilisation”.
“The pursuit of these fundamental objectives has become the central pillar that drive our quest not to allow the air of despair settle in our society, which represents a bastion of stability in Nigeria”, he said.

Prof Tyoden is the only one who has said what he can do for
Plateau State. Amongst the Candidates Only Prof Sonni Tyoden has 5 Research
Publication in the USA Library of Congress. From the Sura tribe he holds the
title “Jarumi” Mwaghavul. He holds another external title as the
“Ukan Muta N’diche” of Enugu. People that have worked with him like
Ewi of Ado-Ekiti and former Chancellor University of Jos, Oba Rufus Adeyemo
Adejugbe Aladesanmi III described Prof Tyoden as an articulate, focused and
principled academician and administrator whose humility and experience will
benefit to Plateau State. His predecessor Professor Hayward Mafuyai, commended
Tyoden’s tenure as VC for the unique developments brought about by “his policies
in information communication and technology (ICT), gender policy, research and
development, etc. promising to follow his footsteps to take the institution to
higher heights.”
