Troops from Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, have arrested three suspects in possession of illegal firearms in Delta State.
The arrest was made public in a statement issued by Major Emmanuel Onoja, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, on Friday, 27th September 2024.
The suspects, identified as Abel Festus, Ramsey Akporoyibo, and Stephen Omah, were apprehended while travelling in a Lexus RX 350 with registration number YAB 347 CQ in the Oghareki community, Ethiope West Local Government Area.

According to Major Onoja, the operation resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, including five pump-action rifles, a Dane gun, a battle axe, and 51 cartridges.
“The suspects have been taken into custody for thorough interrogation and further investigation,” the statement revealed.
The Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, continues its efforts to maintain peace and stability in the Niger Delta region, particularly in tackling illegal activities such as arms smuggling and militancy.
The security forces have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that criminal elements are brought to justice in a bid to safeguard the lives and property of residents in the area.
Further details regarding the investigation are expected as authorities continue to crack down on unlawful possession of firearms in the region.
