The combined troops of Operation UDO KA have successfully neutralized 20 IPOB/ESN terrorists and destroyed their command center in Mother Valley, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.
This operation, conducted in collaboration with the police, civil defence, and Department of State Services personnel, marks a significant victory against the separatist groups in the region.
According to a statement by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, the troops also destroyed approximately 50 tents, the terrorists’ Supreme Headquarters, Command and Control Centre, as well as their Military Council Headquarters.
Additionally, various structures such as residences, offices, logistic bases, temples, and shrines used by the terrorists were razed to the ground.
The camp, which was well concealed with foliage to evade air surveillance, was also found to have sufficient power supply, farms, and livestock to sustain the terrorists.
During the operation, troops encountered several command IEDs and ditches along the axis to the camp, all of which were safely detonated and covered before reaching the camp.
A significant amount of assorted weapons, including G3 rifles, AK47 rifles, auto pump-action guns, double barrel guns, locally made pistols, and RPG bombs, were recovered from the terrorists.
Additionally, the troops seized ammunition, magazines, IEDs, POS devices, baofeng radios, mobile phones, CCTV cameras, inverters and batteries, as well as Biafra flags, among other items.
The Defence spokesman highlighted that the shrine at the camp was littered with shallow graves, indicating ritual killings. This discovery is believed to be linked to several cases of missing persons in the region.
The recovered items are currently being processed and analyzed for their intelligence value.
Despite this significant success, the troops are maintaining momentum and actively pursuing the terrorists and their cohorts to dislodge them from their enclaves.
