A two-year-old girl has reportedly been assaulted to death in Ningi Local Government Area, Bauchi State, in a tragic incident confirmed by the Bauchi State Police Command.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Ahmed Wakil, disclosed that the crime occurred on November 5, 2024, and was reported to the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters.
“The lifeless body of a two-year-old girl was discovered beside a mosque on Deneva Street, Ningi LGA, bearing signs of assault,” Wakil stated.
“Upon receiving the report, detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the child’s body was taken to General Hospital Ningi.
Medical examination revealed severe injuries from penetration, which led to her death.”
Condemning the crime, Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, described the incident as “horrific and heinous.”
He has directed the Divisional Police Officer in Ningi to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the brutal act.
Wakil further conveyed the commissioner’s appeal to parents and guardians to prioritize the safety of their children, urging them to avoid leaving minors unattended.
The Police Command is also appealing to the public for any information that could assist in locating and prosecuting the perpetrators of this tragic crime.
