    UN Condemns Renewed Boko Haram Attacks In Borno

    boko_haramSpecial Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa, Mr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, has condemned the renewed waves of attacks in Borno.

    A statement issued on Friday by National Information Officer, UN Information Centre, Mr Oluseyi Soremekun, said Chambas particularly condemned reported large number of abductions of women and children.

    Chambas, who is also the High-Level Representative of the Secretary-General to Nigeria, noted that the renewed waves of attacks were being perpetrated against innocent civilians.

    The special representative called on the Nigerian authorities to do everything possible to curb the continuous attacks taking place in the North-East.

    He also called on the authorities to bring the perpetrators of the attacks to justice.

    Chambas expressed the sympathy of the UN to the families of the victims, the people and the Government of Nigeria.
