Two key stakeholders of the Labour Party (LP) in Abia State have been abducted by unknown gunmen, raising concerns about the state’s security situation.
The incident occurred during a Labour Party meeting at a hotel in Aba, the state’s commercial hub.
Eyewitnesses reported that the heavily armed, masked assailants stormed the venue and disrupted the gathering, claiming to be acting on “orders from above” without further clarification.

Among those kidnapped were the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Ceekay Igara, and the Acting State Chairman, Prince G. O. Ndubueze.
Sources told Journalists that Ndubueze was forced into an unmarked vehicle, an act that has heightened fears among party members.
In response to the abduction, Labour Party members at the scene broke into solidarity chants, condemning the incident as an “anti-people” attack and expressing frustration over the deteriorating security in the state.
The Labour Party has not yet issued an official statement, but the incident has sparked widespread concern as stakeholders call on security agencies to intervene swiftly and ensure the safe return of the abducted leaders.
