Unknown gunmen have killed two youths in Ogbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State. InfoStride News learned that the incident occurred on Friday.
According to sources, the gunmen, armed with sophisticated weapons, killed their victims without any interception by security agencies in the area.
A local resident, who preferred to remain anonymous, said, “Some gunmen identified as Fulani reportedly murdered two of our active youths committed to community assignment around the general area of Oyi River before ascending Ogbe Town here in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
“It is a sad incident that has thrown the ancient town into mourning. Necessary activities are in top gear presently. Ogbe Town needs our prayers and support at this critical period.”
Condemning the incident, Senator Sunday Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District, highlighted the need for state police in light of the recent spate of banditry and kidnapping in Yagba land.
He called on the Kogi State government to immediately commence work on the Egbe–Ogbe road in Yagba West Local Council to ensure easier access.
The senator offered his condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Ogbe community.
When contacted, Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP William Ovye Aya said the Command had not yet received a report on the incident.
He promised to provide further details as soon as more information is available.
