Any worker employed into the Ogun State Civil Service in whatever form between 2008 and now but has failed to comply with regulations on certificate verification has till the end of this month to do so.
Failure on the part of such officer to do this may lead to the termination of his appointment from the service. This warning was contained in a circular issued in Abeokuta by the Permanent Secretary of the State Civil Service Commission, Mr. Sola Adeyemi.
In the circular, Adeyemi reminded the concerned officers of the regulation which makes it mandatory for them to verify their certificates within their first six months of employment.
“You are to note that within six (6) months of your assumption of duty, the Ogun State Civil Service shall verify the authenticity of your certificates and others statements made in your application form” he wrote.
According to him, failure to fulfil this condition amounts to the violation of rule 02207(i) of the State Public Service Rule (revised to 1st June 2003) which states that “A candidate should be required to complete a letter of application on form No. Gen 69B. Any false statement made therein will be regarded as sufficient ground for non-employment or if such falsehood is detected after engagement for termination of employment without notice”.
The Permanent Secretary also reminded that the State Government reserves the right to recover from such officers and their guarantors any money they might have earned as a result of such declaration or attestation.
He therefore enjoined Ministries and Agencies to inform all the affected officers in writing with copies forwarded to the Commission, urging concerned Senior and Junior Officers to contact the State Civil Service Commission and the Bureau Of Establishment and Training respectively for necessary actions.
