Paul Pogba has flown to Dubai to join up with the Manchester United squad at their warm weather training base.
Pogba missed the FA Cup third round win over Reading on Saturday through injury and was not among the travelling squad which flew to Dubai immediately after the game. United clarified on Sunday Pogba would link up with his teammates after undergoing treatment at their Carrington training base.
The 25-year-old was pictured at Manchester Airport on Monday and could train with the rest of the United squad on Tuesday. United underwent their first session at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex earlier on Monday.
Caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was always expected to rest Pogba for Reading’s visit but a harsh tackle by Jonjo Shelvey in last week’s Premier League victory at Newcastle ensured Pogba would not be considered for selection. Solskjaer confirmed on Friday the injury that made Pogba a doubt for the Cup tie was inflicted by Shelvey.
Pogba has scored four and provided three assists in Solskjaer’s four league wins and could return to the side for Sunday’s highly-anticipated encounter against Tottenham at Wembley. Pogba only started in two of Jose Mourinho’s last six games in charge and believes United are more attack minded under Solskjaer.
“I don’t know [about the biggest change],” Pogba said following the triumph over Bournemouth last month. “Maybe we have just realised that we are Manchester United, we need to keep up and we need to be at the top of the league.
“The reaction of all the players, everybody doing themselves that is what we need. A team needs to enjoy playing football, we work for each other and that is the result on the pitch.
“Obviously it is different. We still won some games with the old manager, so it is just a different style of play. We are more offensive I would say, so we create more chances, and play a bit higher as well. So we try to play like that. That is how we want to play.
“We want to attack, and the manager wants to attack and that is what we do on the pitch.”
United supporters voted Pogba player of the month for December, despite him starting just two of the first five games and performing badly at Southampton and Valencia.
