Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State on Sunday urged Nigerians to seek divine intervention in order to overcome the present economic challenges in the country.
Okowa gave the admonition at the Divine Way Baptist Church in Asaba at the thanksgiving service of the Sixth Assembly of the Delta House of Assembly to mark its first anniversary.
“ The only way out of the present situation of the country is to look unto God.
“As we continue to partner with God and seek solution from God, things will get better.’’
He also urged Nigerians to repent their sins, saying that with genuine repentance, “God is able to heal us all of our challenges.’’
The governor assured the Sixth Assembly that his administration would continue to partner with the lawmakers in providing the dividends of democracy to the people.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Monday Igbuya, commended the state executive for its cordial relationship with the house
Igbuya noted that in spite of the economic challenges facing the state, the present administration had striven to deliver on its mandate.
He assured the governor that the house would not relent in supporting the present administration in passing laws that would improve the living standard of the people.
In his sermon, Rev. Dickson Madogwe commended the legislature for its contributions to the growth and development of the state.
Madogwe, who took his Bible reading from the Book of Psalm 124:1-8, noted that leadership was a very difficult task.
He, therefore, advised public office holders to make God their guide in all their dealings, stressing the need for the grace of God in carrying out their policies and programmes.
