Indications have emerged that the Ogun State Government will continue to embark on projects that would enhance teaching and learning in all its public secondary schools.
This came to light when the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Segun Odubela and Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Ms Olubukunola Onabanjo hosted executive members of Molusi College, Ijebu-Igbo, Old Students Association during separate courtesy calls on them.
Emphasising that government remained passionate about providing qualitative education to students, Odubela revealed that about N44b had been allocated for rehabilitating dilapidated blocks of classrooms in public schools in the State’s budget proposal for the next fiscal year
Odubela said aside this, efforts were on-going to ensure even posting of teachers, especially in core subjects and sciences to all schools and appealed to relevant stakeholders to continually partner government in its bid to reposition the education sector
Speaking in the same vein, the TESCOM boss, Ms Onabanjo stated that adequate budgetary provision had been made in the proposed budget for the recruitment of more qualified teachers, affirming that education- support materials such as library, laboratories and other technical equipment would be provided.
Noting that the affordable and qualitative education policy of the State government had increased students’ enrolment in Public Schools across the State, she disclosed that the Commission would continue to engage the services of qualified teachers.
Onabanjo assured that the welfare of teacher and non-teaching staff would remain the priority of the Commission and that training programmes to enhance productivity would equally be placed on the front burner.
In his remarks earlier, National President of the Association, Alhaji Olabode Yusuf had commended government’s commitment towards providing qualitative education to students, urging that it should not rest on its oars.
Alhaji Yusuf assured that on its part, members of his association would be complimenting government’s efforts, pointing out that they have embarked on the construction of blocks of classrooms and other projects in the school.
