The National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South West, Chief Makanjuola Ogundipe, has boasted that the party will deliver Ekiti State for President Goodluck Jonathan in the February 14 presidential election as done in the June 21 governorship election.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, he said President Jonathan’s campaign visit to the state on Tuesday (today) would further consolidate the supremacy of the party in the political equation of the state.
He said, “We welcome the leaders of our party to Ekiti State and we are going to continue our winning streak which saw us defeating the incumbent All Progressives Congress governor in all the 16 local government areas of the state.
“The coming of Governor Ayo Fayose to office has also improved the rating of our party. The people of Ekiti State have seen how the APC deceived them for four years. The APC left the finances of the state in bad shape and we are happy that Governor Fayose is up to the task of salvaging the state.
“President Goodluck Jonathan has done a lot for the country and for our state in particular and we are mobilising support for him and our great party.”
Ogundipe said the reception that the President was receiving from across the country showed that the party was on its way to winning the coming election.
He called on the people of the state who had yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards to do so at the local government area offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
