West Ham Midfielder Slams Clattenburg On Twitter On Man Utd’s Behalf

Manchester United have been sent crashing back down to earth after a comeback from City saw them lose a seemingly comfortable tie 5-3. United were 3-1 up after Ander Herrera’s 53rd minute goal and seemingly cruising – but goals from David Nugent, Esteban Cambiasso, Jamie Vardy and Leonardo Ulloa saw City complete a fantastic and memorable victory.
    .
But that does not tell the whole story. United’s capitulation was inexcusable but so was the abysmal refereeing display from Clattenburg.
    .
He failed to award a foul before then giving a penalty against the Brazilian who was rtightly feeling aggrieved. He then failed to give a shove against Vardy again on before he raced clear to get fouled by Blackett, who was duly shown a red-card.
    .
It was a poor performance from the official and United have an odd ally in that belief. West Ham United summer signing Diego Poyet sent out this Tweet after the game:
    .
Diego Poyet   ✔ @diegopoyet7 — Fair play to Leicester, but the turning point in the game was the clear foul that wasn’t given and led to him giving the pen away.
    .
The West Ham youngster, and son of Sunderland boss certainly hits the nail on the head. United should have stood firm despite the penalty award but the reality is this – if Clattenburg had done his job properly United would have won this afternoon.
    .
What did you make of Clattenburg’s decision?
