The South-West zonal chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has blamed its defeat in the April 11 governorship election in Lagos State on financial mismanagement.
The party also said the statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari that old age would limit his performance in office did not come to it as a surprise.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti the Ekiti State capital on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Dare Omotosho, the zonal executive said it set up a three-member committee, which looked into the crisis in the party and submitted a report for review to the Central Working Committee on June 17, 2015, which in turn, made recommendations to the National Working Committee.
The statement said, “The problem of the Lagos PDP is not unconnected with financial mismanagement and misappropriation of party and election fund, administration ineptitude and undue interference by some party leaders in the state.
“The crisis was responsible for the loss of the Lagos governorship election”, noting that “the party went into the election with a divided house”.
The zonal leadership, therefore, appealed to members of the party in the state to “sheath their swords and give peace a chance” urging the “National Working Committee to act fast on the crisis as it deepens by the day”.
