Wike-APC Governors Feud: Aisha Yesufu Criticises Tinubu’s Leadership

Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has criticised President Bola Tinubu over the ongoing disagreement between Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Yesufu made the remarks in a post on her verified X handle while reacting to the public exchange between Wike and members of the Progressive Governors Forum.

The dispute followed criticism by APC governors of the Rivers State Rainbow Coalition associated with Wike. The governors had warned that the political group could have implications for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

Wike subsequently criticised the governors, describing them as “lazy politicians.”

Reacting to the development, Yesufu questioned Tinubu’s handling of disagreements involving members of his party and political appointees.

“Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been unable to control his party members and appointees and they are currently all over the place fighting each other and spilling the beans on how they are looting public funds,” she wrote.

She added: “It says everything about the leadership of Mr Tinubu! Abysmally disastrous.”

Yesufu’s comments came amid increasing public exchanges between Wike and some APC governors over political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

The disagreement has also drawn reactions from other political figures, with some defending the APC governors’ position and others criticising their confrontation with Wike.

Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, despite serving as a minister in the Tinubu administration, has continued to participate actively in political discussions ahead of the 2027 election.

The latest dispute highlights the growing political tensions surrounding Wike’s alliances and the activities of APC governors as political parties and their various blocs intensify preparations for the 2027 elections.
