The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has appealed to party chieftain, Chief Bode George, to return to what it described as the party’s mainstream leadership structure in order to strengthen the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made by the State Organising Secretary of the faction, Hakeem Olalemi, during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday.
George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, is aligned with the National Working Committee led by Dr Kabiru Turaki and backed by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

The elder statesman has remained a vocal critic of Wike and his role in the protracted leadership crisis within the opposition party.
Speaking on the state of the PDP in Lagos and preparations for the 2027 elections, Olalemi described George as a respected leader whose contributions to the party remain invaluable.
According to him, George’s experience and influence make him an important figure in efforts to reposition the PDP.
“Chief Bode George is always welcome in the PDP. We have great respect for him and there is room for him within the party.
“Chief Bode George loves PDP. He cannot leave PDP. He is coming back to the mainstream to work for the party’s progress.
“He is our father. He is a foundation member; nobody can ask where he is coming from. We will welcome him back to the fold,” Olalemi said.
He maintained that despite disagreements among some leaders and members, the PDP remains united and committed to rebuilding its structures ahead of future elections.
