Wike Reveals Why He Is Clashing With Uzodinma

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, is fighting him because of political differences ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Wike made the allegation while speaking about the political situation in Imo State and his relationship with the governor.

The former Rivers State governor said Uzodinma’s opposition to him was connected to his political activities and influence in the state.

According to Wike, he had supported Uzodinma in the past but the relationship later deteriorated over political disagreements.

He alleged that the Imo governor was uncomfortable with his involvement in the state’s political affairs and efforts to maintain relationships with political stakeholders.

Wike maintained that he had no personal dispute with Uzodinma, stressing that their disagreement was largely political.

He said political actors should be allowed to pursue their interests without resorting to intimidation or attempts to silence opponents.

The FCT minister also accused some politicians of seeking to control the political space in their states by preventing other influential figures from operating freely.

He urged politicians to focus on democratic competition and allow the electorate to determine their preferred candidates and political leaders.

The disagreement between Wike and Uzodinma comes amid increasing political activity across the South-East as politicians and political parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

Both men have remained influential figures in their respective political circles, while their differences have increasingly attracted attention within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and broader opposition politics.

Wike’s latest comments are expected to further fuel discussions about the political alignments taking shape in Imo State and the wider South-East ahead of the 2027 general elections.
