A political group under the platform of North West Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Youths, yesterday said that the defection of ex-governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling PDP, will ensure the party wins back its lost glory.
Chairman of the group in a chat with newsmen in Kano said “Before Shekaru’s arrival, PDP in Kano seemed to be in a dilemma, but when he finally joined, the party witnessed such a speedy recovery and it became obvious that the future for PDP in Kano state is bright”.
The group’s chairman hailed the party’s former caretaker committee chairman, Alhaji Hassan Kafayos, for the role he played in persuading Shekarau and Mohammed Abacha to join PDP in Kano state.
“A good politician always looks for what will enhance his party’s popularity among others. Kafayos has seen those qualities in Shekarau and Abacha and succeeded in convincing the two political giants in the state, and here we are celebrating and hoping with full confidence that in 2015 PDP will regain Kano”, said the chairman.
