Xabi Alonso insists that he doesn’t see himself playing for any other club and sees Real Madrid as his “home”, reports RTE.

Alonso who has been linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks recently signed a contract extension that will keep him in Madrid until 2016.

The former Liverpool playmaker has been playing at the Bernabeu after completing a £30million move from Merseyside to Madrid back in 2009.

Speaking on his future in Spain, Alonso said: “In Madrid, my wife and I have found ourselves very well.
.
We had the total conviction to stay here.
.
“I am here to express my happiness and commitment to Real Madrid for two more seasons. I feel at home, I took five very nice seasons and I hope the next two are as well.”

With plenty of teams after the Spanish international’s signature Madrid fans will be pleased to see Alonso commit his feature to the club.

If it wasn’t for the extended contract Alonso would have been free to leave in the summer as a free agent, this would have given him lots of options however he opted for the sun in Spain as opposed to moving to either Merseyside, Manchester or London where he had options.

Alonso is on the road to recovery after an injury to his eardrum. He feels as if the injury delayed the contract negotiations but is glad that the deal is signed and people can now stop talking about his future now it is settled.

With the World Cup coming up Alonso will be hopeful he can get back to full fitness as soon as possible and cement his place in the national side as Spain look to retain their World Cup crown
