The Yobe State Police Command has expressed deep concern over the persistent rise in Gender-Based Violence, GBV, across the state.
The alarm was raised by the State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, in a statement issued through the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, to commemorate 70 years of women’s service in the Nigeria Police Force.
According to the statement, GBV continues to undermine the educational and social development of the girl child.

The Command called on community members to support ongoing efforts to curb all forms of violence against women and girls, stressing the need for a safer environment where they can reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The statement further urged parents and guardians to encourage their daughters to pursue careers in the Nigeria Police Force, noting that increased female participation—particularly in handling cases involving women and children—would promote fairness, strengthen public trust, and enhance security delivery across the state.
CP Ado commended women officers for their professionalism, courage, and dedication since their integration into the Force.
“You should maintain the momentum, remain exemplary, and continue championing efforts toward eliminating Gender-Based Violence in Yobe State,” he said.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to equity, professionalism, and the protection of all citizens, especially women and children.
