Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has pledged enhanced support to security operatives in the state to improve their performance and ensure a secure environment.
The Governor made this commitment in a statement issued by his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, during a ceremony in his office.
The occasion marked the presentation of an award to Operation Haba Maza, the state’s security outfit, which was recognized as the best police patrol unit in Nigeria by the Nigeria Police Force. Governor Buni established Operation Haba Maza in 2019 as an emergency support to conventional security agencies in the state.

In his remarks, Governor Buni commended the security agencies in the state for their collaboration and teamwork, which has significantly reduced crime rates across Yobe State. He assured them of continued support to enhance their effectiveness.
The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, praised the Governor for establishing Operation Haba Maza, describing it as a crucial asset in combating crime, particularly in Damaturu, the state capital, and its environs.
Ahmed urged the expansion of the outfit to other major towns in the state to further bolster crime prevention efforts.
He also requested additional vehicles to improve logistical support for effective patrols throughout the state.
