SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(Marketwired – Jan 15, 2014) – Starting today, Yola will host the first Yola Website Buildathon Contest, an initiative to promote the benefits of having a website and encourage people of all ages and abilities to put their ideas into action and create a professional website easily and for free.

“Every day we see websites published on the Yola platform that show true promise,” said Trevor Harries-Jones, CEO of Yola. “The Yola Buildathon contest will give people the opportunity to showcase their customized websites and be a part of what makes Yola great.”

Participants are to create and submit a new, three-page website with original content using the free Yola Sitebuilder for a chance to win a Grand, Second, Third place and User Favorite awards. Prizes depend on award level and comprise:

    • Website converted into a Theme on one of Yola’s Styles
    • One-year premium website services subscription (Bronze, Silver, or Gold)
    • One custom domain and private registration for one year
    • One-year subscription to Yola Mail
    • An exclusive feature on the Yola blog
    • A certificate in Yola Web Design
    • And more.

“Having a theme in the Yola Sitebuilder will drive additional traffic and press to the user’s site, helping their business to grow,” continued Harries-Jones. “We also want people to know how easy and fun it is to build a website.”

In the past year, Yola has created a series of new, flexible website style templates and themes that provide its eight million users additional control over the full spectrum of their site’s visual design and content from typography and colors to padding and spacing.

To further encourage people to build a website, Yola has published Part 1 of its first eBook, Get Started Building Your Website. Written in two-parts, the free eBook is a comprehensive guide on how to plan and design a website using technology available to everyone. Yola will also publish a 5-Minute Website Fixes series on the Yola blog throughout the course of the contest.
