The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports of internal crisis within the party, accusing Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi and former senator Kabiru Marafa of attempting to sow division for personal gain.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, said the party remains united under the leadership of key figures, including the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
Gusau described Shinkafi and Marafa as “disgruntled elements” whose actions were aimed at destabilising the party.
Shinkafi had earlier called on President Bola Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, to address what he termed growing divisions within the Zamfara chapter, warning that the situation could hurt the party’s prospects in the 2027 elections.
Reacting, Gusau dismissed the claims, alleging that Shinkafi turned against Matawalle despite previously benefiting politically from him. He also accused Marafa of abandoning the party after failing to secure political appointments.
The party cited its recent victory in the Kaura-Namoda South State Assembly by-election as evidence of its strength and unity.
Gusau further stated that the cohesion within the Zamfara APC was a product of the joint efforts of Matawalle, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Senator Ahmad Sani Yarima, and former governor Mamuda Shinkafi, adding that the party remains focused on consolidating its internal strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.
