The Zamfara North Progressive Movement has expressed deep concern over the rising cases of armed banditry, killings, and kidnapping for ransom in Zamfara State.
In a statement signed by Ahmed Abubakar Birane, the group’s Chairman, they called on the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Police Command to swiftly investigate and prosecute suspects involved in these crimes to deter others from similar acts.
The group expressed particular concern over the delay in the investigation and prosecution of individuals detained or granted bail in connection with the abduction of District Head Ibrahim Sarkin Fada Kasuwar Daji by armed bandits.

They highlighted the case of the district head, who was held captive for over six months and was only released after a ransom was paid by his son, a former State House of Assembly member, Anas Ibrahim S/Fada.
The group emphasized the need for thorough investigation and prosecution, especially following the arrest of an armed bandit who allegedly named accomplices involved in attacks, kidnappings, and killings in Kaura town and its environs.
Additionally, they cited the abduction of the State Financial Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), who were also released after ransom payments.
The Zamfara North Progressive Movement urged the police not to spare anyone found complicit in these crimes, regardless of their political status.
They called for the revocation of bail granted to the State House of Assembly member until the investigation is completed.
The group appealed to Governor Dauda Lawal and the Inspector General of Police to intervene and ensure that the perpetrators face justice.
They emphasized the importance of peace and security in Zamfara State for the continuation of lawful activities, pledging their support to the government and security agencies in the fight against banditry, insurgency, terrorism, and kidnapping for ransom or political reasons.
