A 14 year-old bride, who killed her husband and three of his friends, Wasila Tasi’u, was on Monday charged before a Rijiyar Zaki Magistrates’ Court in Kano for alleged culpable homicide.
The prosecutor, Insp. Yusuf Sale, alleged that the accused poisoned Sani’s food with some substance, popularly known as Ota pia pia.
According to him, the husband and three other persons died on the spot after eating the food.
The prosecutor also alleged that the other six persons who ate the meal in the same dish were rushed to General Hospital Gaya, but were later treated and discharged.
Sale said the offence contravened Section 221 (B) of the penal code.
However, the accused person pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable the Police to seek for the advice of Director Public Prosecution.
The Magistrate, Binta Muhammad, adjourned the case to May 12 for mention.
She, however, ordered that the accused person to be remanded in prison custody. [NAN]
