As the political activities towards the 2015 general elections increases, the Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has admonished members of the Delta State House of Assembly to strike a balance between their political activities and their legislative duties.

The Governor gave the advice in Asaba when the newly elected Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya was formally introduced to him in a courtesy visit.

He noted that there might be the temptation of House members paying more attention to campaigning in the field for the 2015 elections thereby neglecting their legislative duties, and advised them to create a balance between their political career and the House duties because there are still bills to be passed, and a lot is needed in terms of their legislative duties.

Governor Uduaghan congratulated Rt. Hon. Onwusanya and urged him to be aware of the equality of the twenty-nine members of Delta State legislature and should therefore deal with issues that concern them with mutual respect.

He commended the State Legislators for the peace that exists in the House of Assembly, observing that the transition was animosity-free.

Dr. Uduaghan observed that the immediate past Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei made a lot of contributions towards the development of the House of Assembly, reiterating that the Executive will always ensure harmonious relationship with the Legislative.

Speaking further he stated that the new Speaker has a challenge of improving on the achievements of the former Speaker and assured him that the harmonious relationship between the Executive and the House would be sustained.
