Mukhtar Ramalan yeroAhead of the governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which has been slated for November 29 across the country, Kaduna State governor, Ramalan Yero, has made a bold move to seek a fresh mandate in 2015 by picking the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

Yero, who picked the forms yesterday at the national secretariat of the PDP in Abuja, was accompanied by his deputy, Ambassador Nuhu Bajoga, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Tahir Usman, and all PDP members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

Yero, who emerged as governor following the death of his boss, Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa in a helicopter crash in 2012, said his decision to contest the 2015 governorship election was informed by the various calls on him by people of the state to run.

He dismissed insinuation of cracks in the PDP over his ambition even as he maintained that the party is “a very united family in the state and we are very confident that in Feburary 2015, PDP will emerge victorious at all elections in the state.

“There is no space for opposition political parties to show any force in that PDP will win governorship and other elections in the state because our administration has done well in stabilising the security situation, created jobs, transformed education. PDP is formidable and powerful in the state”.

Yero further declared that his administration has completed 70 percent of 33 road projects embarked upon by the late Yakowa and stabilised the security situation in the state in the last 22 months.

He also added that his administration has transformed the education sector in the state which was evident in the state’s ranking as third best by West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) this year.
