The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Peter Agada, has challenged President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to present practical and measurable plans for addressing Nigeria’s challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Agada made the call on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, urging presidential contenders to move beyond campaign rhetoric and explain how they intend to fulfil their promises if elected.

He criticised the country’s political culture, arguing that election campaigns often feature attractive promises without clear explanations of how they would be implemented.
“For decades, political campaigns in Nigeria have been treated like poetry contests,” Agada said.
“I challenge my fellow presidential candidates, Tinubu, Atiku and Peter Obi, to present their plans for Nigerians.”
The YPP candidate said politicians promising employment opportunities, improved healthcare and economic recovery should provide specific details about their proposed policies, including implementation strategies, timelines and the resources required.
According to him, Nigerians deserve to know how and when candidates intend to deliver on their campaign promises rather than rely on general assurances.
Agada also identified poor coordination among government agencies as a major factor contributing to abandoned projects and infrastructure that fails to serve its intended purpose.
Using the healthcare sector as an example, he argued that constructing hospitals without providing supporting facilities such as access roads, electricity and water supply undermines their effectiveness.
He maintained that public projects should be planned and executed in an integrated manner to ensure that government investments deliver tangible benefits to citizens.
Agada’s challenge comes amid preparations by political parties and presidential aspirants for the 2027 general elections, with candidates expected to outline their policy priorities and approaches to governance.
The YPP flagbearer is among the presidential candidates cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the election.
He urged political leaders to subject their proposed programmes to public scrutiny and demonstrate how their policies would translate into measurable improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
