Barring unforeseen circumstances, the on-going road construction which links Lafenwa in Abeokuta North Local Government with Ayetoro in Yewa North Local Government Area in Ogun State will be completed and ready for commissioning in December this year.
The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arch. Olamilekan Adegbite gave this assurance while inspecting the 50 km long road.
Adegbite said like other “Ogun Standard” roads, the Lafenwa-Ayetoro road would be reconstructed into six lanes with furniture such as street lights, median, sidewalks and green belt. “The road should be ready by December this year and it is part of the administration’s agenda to create a city of global standard where lives and property are safe-guarded”, he noted.
He said the need to address incessant traffic logjam and reconstruct the road linking neighboring Oyo State to a modern road necessitated the intervention of the State government.
Speaking in an interview, residents in the area lauded Governor Amosun for the reconstruction work, describing it as a stitch in time. Mrs. Shola Moshood, a resident and trader in Lafenwa said the road construction will help save lives and engender more trading activities.
Another resident, Mr. Bola Yusuf described the reconstruction work as wholesome, adding that it would transform living standard along the axis.
