
The Lagos State Government (LASG) has reiterated its commitment to ensuring financial independence for women in the State to make them self-reliant despite the current economic situation.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Lola Akande stated this in her address at the Women Academy Workshop, themed “How best to offer help and economic support to women in the 21st century through entrepreneurial skills”, organised by the Ministry in collaboration with Archetype Management Consultancy Limited, at Prestige Catering and Hotels Hall, Alausa, Ikeja.
Akande disclosed that the workshop, which was part of the empowerment policies of the present administration to mitigate the effects of poverty among women in the State, would be of great benefit to the participants as they would be exposed to how to improve the home front activities.
She said the programme will reveal key ways to improve their economic values; familiarize them with trending and vital business ideas and identify crucial areas to exert their God ordained strength.
The Commissioner urged participants to make good use of the unique opportunity provided by the workshop to better their lot and justify government spending to inspire and empower women in the State.
During the event, various facilitators made presentations on Home Management, Viable Small Scale businesses for women, Funding Options for Small and Medium Enterprises. (LASG)
