After Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, the criticism against the team’s ownership has been upped to a different level.
A very dampened 1-1 draw against relegated Huddersfield on Saturday ended the club’s top four hopes, making fans storm social media to blast chief executive Ed Woodward and the board for ruining the club.
Ed Woodward has been at United for about 7 years, sealing several partnerships across the globe and has been mainly responsible for the club’s success off the pitch.
But, the regression on the pitch has left fans feeling fed up of Ed Woodward’s obsession with everything else but the problems on the field of play.
Due to this, a hashtag has started with supporters coming together to do away with United’s various platforms via the #UnfollowManUnited campaign — which is all aimed at reducing the club’s follower count to force Ed Woodwards hands to rid the club off its ineffectiveness.
Manchester United’s last trophies came in 2016-17, when they lifted the Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League.
They last won the EPL in 2012.
