A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has discharged and acquitted Fubara Ohaka, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, of charges filed against him by the Federal Government.
Ohaka, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the Youth Movement in Emohua Local Government Area of the state, had been standing trial on six counts, including alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering, terrorism, illegal refining of products without a license, and conspiracy.
These charges were brought against him by the Federal Government through the Department of State Services (DSS) since 2022.

In delivering the judgment, the trial judge, Justice Stephen Dalyop-Pam, stated that the Federal Government failed to provide sufficient evidence to support its claims against the defendant.
Justice Dalyop-Pam agreed with the no-case submission made by the defendant’s counsel and subsequently discharged and acquitted Ohaka.
In 2022, DSS operatives, in a joint operation, raided Ohaka’s residence in Port Harcourt, broke through his fence to his bedroom, and arrested him.
It took several months before residents and friends discovered his whereabouts and the reasons for his arrest, leading to the legal battle that ultimately ended in his favor.
