Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has called for enhanced funding in education to drive human capital development in Nigeria.
The governor made this appeal during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny Echono, in Abuja.
Accompanied by the state commissioner for education, Wemi Jones, and the Vice Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor KIT Eniola, Governor Ododo commended TETFund for its support to higher educational institutions in the state.

He emphasized the need for more interventions, especially under the Special High Impact Intervention Fund, to further enhance tertiary education in Kogi State.
Governor Ododo praised TETFund for its role in the development of higher education in Kogi State, highlighting the recent matriculation ceremony at Kogi State University, Kabba, which welcomed over 1000 students.
He also noted the fund’s impact on other institutions in the state, including Prince Abubakar Audu University Ayingba, Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, College of Education Ankpa, and College of Education (Technical) Kabba.
He reiterated education’s significance as a catalyst for societal development and pledged his administration’s commitment to promoting key priority areas in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) in all higher institutions in the state.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring that every school-aged child in the state receives quality education.
In response, Echono assured Governor Ododo of TETFund’s continued support through interventions in tertiary education to advance the governor’s vision of accelerated human capital development in Kogi State.
