Ahead of the Ondo State governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) will commence on Thursday across all 203 wards in the state.
The Commission emphasized that backlog PVCs from previous registrations will also be available for collection at designated centres.
INEC urged eligible voters to collect their cards in person during the approved dates, reaffirming that no cards would be issued by proxy.

In a statement issued on Monday, Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, said that details of the ward and local government collection centres, including their addresses, have been uploaded to the Commission’s website and social media platforms for easy access.
“The Commission is pleased to announce that following the conclusion of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo State and the subsequent data cleanup, PVCs have been printed for all certified registrants and delivered to our state office in Akure for collection by eligible voters,” Olumekun stated.
He disclosed that 89,777 new PVCs have been printed, comprising 58,708 for newly registered voters and 31,069 for applicants requesting transfers, updates, or replacements for lost or damaged cards.
Olumekun explained that PVCs will be available at two levels:
1. Ward Level:
– Collection will take place at all 203 wards from Thursday, 17th October to Monday, 21st October 2024, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, including weekends.
2. Local Government Level:
– From Wednesday, 23rd October to Tuesday, 29th October 2024, collection will shift to the 18 local government area (LGA) offices during the same hours.
Additionally, INEC announced that it would paste the register of new voters at all designated centres.
The full collection register will also be uploaded on its website to assist voters in identifying their names and collection centres for a smooth collection process.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to a transparent electoral process and encouraged voters to pick up their cards promptly.
