A man identified as Sharahu Haruna was killed during a mob attack in Gidan Katakare community, Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State, following accusations of witchcraft involving a relative.
The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, when residents accused Haruna Lawali of allegedly bewitching a woman, identified as Nafisa Masa’udu.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that an angry mob stormed Lawali’s residence, demanding an explanation over the alleged spiritual attack.

The situation escalated, and in the resulting chaos, a Dane gun was discharged, fatally striking Sharahu Haruna.
Police operatives from the Birnin Magaji Division were said to have responded promptly to a distress call. Officers documented the scene and later released Haruna’s body to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Law enforcement authorities have since launched a full investigation into the incident. “The role of the community in the attack is under scrutiny,” a source familiar with the investigation said.
As of the time of filing this report, no arrests have been confirmed.
