Armed bandits on Friday launched a deadly attack on a mosque in Yandoto community, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing five worshippers and abducting several others.
The incident was confirmed in a post shared on X by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, the gunmen struck during dawn prayers at about 5:00 a.m., opening fire on worshippers inside the mosque before abducting some of them into the nearby forest.
The attack left the community in deep shock and mourning. Residents later gathered to offer funeral prayers for the slain victims, who were described as devout Muslims known for their commitment to regular prayers.
The incident has further heightened fears in the area, which has suffered repeated bandit attacks in recent months.
